Shift settings allow you to customize your work shifts, which determines when you will receive alerts from Active911. There are multiple ways to customize shift settings to fit your needs. Only account administrators have access to edit users shift settings from the website.

To set your shifts follow these steps:

  1. Login to member access on
  2. Click on the Devices tab
  3. Click on the device that you want to set a shift for
  4. Go down to Work Shift, which is below the Device code
  5. Click on Always on Call or on the words to the left of the black arrow
  6. Select your shift

"Always on call" means there is no restriction to when you can receive calls, on or off duty. Similarly, "Always Off" means you won't receive any alerts, no matter the day or time.

If you work specific days every week, you can use the "Weekdays" option and select the days you work.

You can change the start date of your shift, which is useful if you change shift types throughout your employment. Its also possible to change shift length, ranging from 1 to 24 hours per shift.

In the table below you will find a more diverse and advanced variety of pre-programmed shifts that we offer and their descriptions. If you don't see a shift listed in this table, please contact us at

Note: The shift string denotes in 24hour periods whether the person is on or off shift. The shift duration is not part of the equation.

So a Shift starting at 10AM on Jan 1 with a duration of 12 hours using a shift string of "1,0,0,1,1" will be

* Jan 1 - On Duty 10AM to 10PM
* Jan 2 - Off Duty all day
* Jan 3 - Off Duty all day
* Jan 4 - On Duty  10AM to 10PM
* Jan 5 - On Duty  10AM to 10PM

Then the pattern repeats

* Jan 6 - On Duty 10AM to 10PM
* Jan 7 - Off Duty all day
* Jan 8 - Off Duty all day
* Jan 9 - On Duty  10AM to 10PM
* Jan 10 - On Duty  10AM to 10PM
